About Can solicitors use AI

Joe, who reads the SRA, BSB and court texts on AI and the tool providers' own price pages, and replies to every enquiry himself.

Why this site exists

The SRA's warning notice of 17 August 2026 says firms are free to use AI but names two failures it keeps seeing: false citations put before the court and client information typed into public tools. The rules are spread across the SRA, the Bar, the courts and the ICO, and the tool prices are mostly not published, so this site puts both in one place with every source named.

Who it is for

Solicitors, partners and practice managers in UK firms deciding whether and how to use AI tools, and what to put in place first.

What is on this site

One question, "can solicitors use ai", answered with a quote form that works on the page with no account, 5 guides on the questions around it, a data table you can cite (the figures and their method), and the sources every figure rests on.

What it does not do

  • No legal or regulatory advice: the rules are quoted, never interpreted for your matter.
  • No paid placement, no affiliate links and no sponsored rows.
  • No invented figure: a tool that publishes no price is listed as publishing none.

Who answers for it

Joseph Ellul-Turner, the person who reads every enquiry this site takes.

This is a free information site. When you send an enquiry, Joe, who runs this site, reads it and replies to you himself; no firm receives your details and you pay nothing to ask. It carries no advertising, no sponsored placement and no affiliate links, and no tool in the table has paid to be there. Every rule is quoted from the regulator, professional body or court that publishes it, with a link to the page, and every price is read from the provider's own page on the date shown. Nothing here is legal or regulatory advice; check the source before you rely on it.
